It is everyone's dream to be able to make income from what they love to do. In today's society, over 60 percent of the people are not happy with their jobs, and since money is the main factor for living in today's society, the cycle of going to work and doing the same thing everyday repeated which built up stress, and eventually created an unhappy working environment. There are many side jobs out there, but the majority of the people that work their main job think that side jobs are a waste of time and that they won’t make enough when eventually some side jobs do make more than some people's main job.
When I was in middle school I was fascinated with making money so I could buy all the toys, and video games that I wanted because whenever I asked my parents, they always told me that they will buy me whatever I want as long as I receive good grades for all the subjects at the end of my school year. To me it sounded like a good deal, but then I would have to wait for a long period of time, so I decided to figure out my own way.
YOUTUBER
I started doing youtube at the beginning of my high school year, and it took me a few years to reach a few thousand subscribers. I was a partner with Freedom partner program, but didn’t make much money from youtube so I decided to quit youtube during my senior year of high school because it was time consuming and I didn’t make much in return.
RUNNING A MINECRAFT SERVER
After I quit doing youtube, I decided to start up my own Minecraft server. At the start it was an easy task because I have a friend who was a developer for the server, and all I have to do is do an advertisement for the server. We got plenty of players, and the majority of them were my subscribers. Not to mention, the donations I got were way more than what I made during my 3 years of being a youtuber. The server was open for a year before I had to shut it down since I have to focus on college.
THE RETURN
I decided to open another server after my first college, knowing that I will be able to maintain school and my server at the same time. After I opened the server I did not get as many players as before due to me not keeping contact with people that used to play on my previous server. However, this time I decided to not close down my server and kept it open since some people donated and I didn’t want them to waste their money. After a few months, and especially during the COVID-19 outbreaks many people joined my server, and some chose to stay and play the server till today.
RESULT
Here are the results of how much I made from the past 3 months. This taught me that if I don't give up then anything is possible.
Wow this was an informative blog. I'm glad that gaming was able to increase your income by quite a bit. I also play video games myself but never considered creating a channel to generate profit myself since I hardly have time to play. The minecraft community is amazing as everyone tries to help each other out. This was definitely a great read.

ReplyDeleteI was in the same boat as you when I was a kid when my parents also told me that as long as I get good grades, I could get anything that I want. Little did I know that they said that because they were confident that I would never get straight A's. Spoiler alert, my grades were near the other spectrum of the grade system, so I never got to get my parents to buy me anything.

Wow this is crazy making that much money off a minecraft server. Is it super passive income, or do you need to be on the server to make that much. Get hustle bro, keep it up.

ReplyDeleteAlthough nowadays it is difficult to make a sound income off of youtube, back then it was a hotspot for many creative people to make money off of what they love doing. That is so nice you had connections and were able to make money by advertising.

ReplyDeleteI think it is super cool that you were making youtube videos. As a freshman, I was interested in Youtube a lot but I never had the confidence to become a youtuber so I give you props for doing it. I play Minecraft on my Ipad with a PS4 controller but I am always on and off playing it.
Very cool!! I've always been envious of youtubers, streamers and influencers because they're able to generate a decent amount of income with very little to no overhead costs. Not to mention, they get to do what they're passionate about. I'm not a gamer myself, but I dated one for a very long time and then I ended up marrying another gamer. They're not professional gamers, but they have made money selling their characters online and I was really surprised by the fact that people actually paid for their game characters! This is a good side hustle if you can find the right team to help you run/manage the server while you finish school!

I'm glad you didn't give up because of YouTube and you found a new way to make an income. Keep up with what you're doing and don't give up. You're doing great at it and not many people can be successful. If you keep working hard you will make it far.
